TV viewing habits

This little gem came across the Politech list the other day. Unfortunately, it came across on April Fools Day so I wonder how many people will take this seriously and how many won't.

Essentially it breaks down to this, it seems the Patriot Act allows the US government some rather extensive powers all in the name of anti-terrorism. It was rushed through in the hours after 9/11 and was really one of the actions that upset me.

The part I find interesting about this though is that it seems EPIC and the ACLU are at opposing ends to the interpretation of the text. It's not the first time the two have been on opposing ends, but it seems in this case rather odd. It does further the point of English being too ambiguous a language though for verification, a point made in yesterdays post.

What would be interesting to see is if you could claim the hacking of your DirecTV connection as ensuring your privacy. After all, it seems that DirecTV cannot ensure this, so it's left to you the consumer to do so.
